Follow Up After Every Job
Most drain companies do the job, collect the check, and move on. The ones that grow have a simple follow-up sequence that turns every job into a review, a referral, and the next booking. It's a few messages — set them up once and they compound.
The sequence
Here's the timeline, with a copy-paste message for each step.
Day 0 — the same day
Send the receipt plus the proof and a plain-English "what we found." This is what makes you unforgettable.
"Hi [Name], thanks for choosing [Company] today! Attached is your receipt and the before/after camera footage. What we found: [grease buildup in the kitchen line]. It's flowing great now. Any questions, just reply or call (555) 123-4567."
Day 2 — ask for the review
"Hi [Name], hope the drain's still flowing perfectly! If you were happy with the work, a quick Google review really helps us: [review link]. Mentioning the issue and your city is a big help — thank you!"
Day 14 — the prevention note
This positions you as the expert who cares, not just the person who showed up once.
"Hi [Name], quick tip to keep that line clear: [avoid pouring grease down the drain / run hot water weekly]. If it ever backs up again, we've got your camera history on file so we can get right to it."
Day 60–90 — the maintenance offer
For anything that looked borderline or recurring, offer the follow-up cleaning.
"Hi [Name], it's been a couple months since we cleared your [main line]. Given the [root intrusion] we saw on camera, now's a smart time for a preventive jetting before it backs up again. Want me to get you on the schedule?"
Restaurants and property managers: don't wait
For grease lines and busy properties, don't drip out messages — propose the plan on day one.
"Based on what we saw today, quarterly grease-line jetting will keep you ahead of the 5pm backup and the health-inspection risk. I can set up a standing quarterly visit at a fixed rate — want me to put it together?"
SkipCalls publishes ready-made review and referral request scripts built specifically for plumbers — proof this follow-up motion is a known, repeatable playbook, not something you have to invent from scratch.
Do this: save these four messages as templates and trigger them off each closed job. Even done by hand, they'll pull in reviews and repeat work you're leaving on the table today.
