The Plan · Get Found Online · Step 9 of 30

Own Your Google Business Profile

When someone searches "drain cleaning near me," the map pack — those three businesses at the top — gets the calls. Your Google Business Profile is how you get in it. For local drain work it drives more calls than your website does, yet most companies claim it once and never touch it again.

Set the categories right

Category is the biggest relevance signal. Don't just pick "Plumber."

Example categories

Primary: Drain Cleaning Service
Secondary: Plumber, Septic System Service, Sewer-line repair, Excavating Contractor (only the ones you actually do)

List every service separately

Example services

Hydro Jetting · Sewer Camera Inspection · Main Line Cleaning · Grease-Line Cleaning · Emergency Drain Service · Toilet & Kitchen Drain Clearing

Post every week (15 minutes)

A profile that posts is a profile that ranks. Rotate your city names through the posts.

Example weekly posts

"Before/after: cleared a grease-packed main line in Springfield this week 📹"
"Recurring kitchen clog? Here's why hydro jetting beats snaking."
"Restaurant owners: quarterly grease-line jetting stops the 5pm backup."
"Camera inspection special this month — see exactly what's in your line."

Seed your own Q&A

Anyone can post a question on your profile — including a competitor. Ask and answer the real ones yourself so you control the story and add keywords.

Example Q&A

Q: Do you offer same-day drain cleaning?
A: Yes — we offer same-day service across Springfield and nearby towns, with a clear arrival window. Call (555) 123-4567.

Photos do the convincing

Add real, recent photos every month: branded trucks, your crew, the jetter and camera, and before/after camera screenshots — grease, roots, scale. Skip stock images; they hurt more than they help.

Real example from the field

Google's own Business Profile guidance spells out the categories, services, and photo fields that feed local ranking — the exact fields most drain companies leave half-empty. Fill every one and you're already ahead of the shop across town.

Do this: block 15 minutes every Monday — one post, reply to new reviews, add two photos, answer one question. Consistency is what keeps you in the map pack.

Next up Step 10 — Get Your Listings Consistent. Same name, address, and phone everywhere. Inconsistency bleeds local ranking.

Don't want to do this yourself?

We'll set it up and run it for you — this step and the rest of the plan — so you can stay on the truck. Built for jetting and drain-line companies only.
