Nail Your Positioning
Your positioning is the promise you lead with — on your homepage, your ads, and when a tech talks to a customer. Get it right and you attract better jobs at better prices. Most drain companies get it wrong by leading with their equipment ("We hydro jet!") instead of the customer's outcome (their clog gone, for good).
Lead with the outcome and the diagnosis
Customers don't search "hydro jetting." They search "clogged drain" and "sewer backup." So sell reliability, clear pricing, and prevention first — and let jetting be the premium fix once they understand why.
"Acme Plumbing — Hydro Jetting Services. Call for a quote."
"Fast drain cleaning with camera inspection, clear pricing, and long-term clog prevention. We show you what caused it — and help stop it from coming back."
Your one-line promise
Every company needs a single sentence that captures the difference you offer. Use this as your homepage tagline and your elevator pitch:
"We don't just clear the drain. We show you what caused it and help prevent it from coming back."
Camelback Grease (Phoenix) doesn't try to be everything — it positions squarely around grease and commercial jetting: "clear grease, debris, and blockages for clean, free-flowing pipes, fast." That focus is exactly why a restaurant owner searching "grease line cleaning" picks them over a general plumber.
Position three offers, not one
Give customers a clear path from emergency to premium. Name each offer around the outcome:
- Emergency Drain Cleaning — "Backed up right now? Same-day relief, clear arrival window."
- Hydro Jetting — "Recurring clogs, grease or roots? A camera-verified clean that lasts."
- Preventive Maintenance — "Never get surprised again — scheduled jetting for restaurants and busy properties."
Build trust into the promise
Because drain work is anxiety-driven, bake reassurance right into your positioning: "We inspect before we recommend jetting," "No unnecessary digging," "No chemical drain cleaners," "Written options before any work begins." These lines belong on your homepage, not buried on an about page.
Do this: write one outcome-first tagline and put it at the top of your homepage today. Name your three offers around what the customer gets, not the tool you use.
