Turn Every Job Into a Review

Reviews do two jobs at once: they're one of the strongest local ranking signals, and they close nervous customers who are afraid of surprise costs and damage. The companies that win aren't lucky — they ask every single time, and they coach the ask so the review helps them rank.

Coach the ask

A review that names the service and the city teaches Google exactly what to rank you for. So don't just ask for "a review" — ask for the right one.

Say this on-site

"If you've got 30 seconds, a Google review really helps us. If you can, mention the drain issue and your city — it helps other local homeowners find us."

Send the text the same day

The best time to ask is right after you've fixed the problem and they're relieved. Make it one tap.

Example review-request text

"Hi [Name], thanks for trusting [Company] with your drain today! If you were happy with the work, would you leave us a quick Google review? Takes 30 seconds: [review link]. Mentioning the issue and your city helps a ton. — [Tech]"

Email works too

Example review-request email

Subject: Quick favor after today's drain job?

Hi [Name],
Thanks again for choosing [Company]. We attached the before/after camera footage from today. If we earned it, a short Google review would mean a lot — it's the #1 way local homeowners find us. Here's the link: [review link].
Mentioning the drain issue and your city is a big help. Thank you!

Reply to every review

Replies show future customers you're engaged — and a calm reply to a tough review reassures the next 50 people who read it.

Example reply to a 5-star

"Thanks, [Name]! Glad we cleared that main line in [City] and got you flowing again. Call us anytime — and don't forget the annual camera check to stay ahead of the roots."

Example reply to a tough review

"Thanks for the honest feedback, [Name] — that's not the experience we want. I'd like to make it right; please call me directly at (555) 123-4567. — [Owner]"

Real example from the field

Black Diamond Experts (Salt Lake City) leans on customer reviews and ratings across its drain and jetting pages. That social proof does double duty — it closes the nervous visitor and the same review volume is what lifts a company in the map pack.

Do this: set up a Google review link, save the text template on every tech's phone, and make "send the review text" the last step of every job.
