Fix Speed & the Technical Basics
A drain emergency caller has zero patience. Water is backing up, they're on their phone in a panic, and if your site takes six seconds to load they hit back and call the next company. Google sees that too. A slow, clunky mobile site ranks worse and converts worse at the same time, which is the worst of both.
You don't need to become a developer. You need to know how to test your site, read the result, and hand a short punch list to whoever built it.
Test it with PageSpeed Insights
Run your homepage and your main jetting page through Google's free tool. It grades your mobile speed and hands you a specific list of what's slowing you down. Test the mobile score, not desktop, because that's where your callers are.
Go to pagespeed.web.dev, paste your URL, and read the Mobile tab. Aim to get
into the green. The report tells you exactly what to fix: oversized images, slow server,
render-blocking scripts.
Fix the usual culprits
On drain-company sites the top offenders are almost always the same. Huge unoptimized job photos, a bloated page builder, and no caching.
Compress every before/after photo before upload (a 5MB phone photo should be a few hundred KB), turn on caching, and drop plugins you don't use. Load under 3 seconds on a phone.
Uploading full-resolution 8MB camera-inspection photos straight from the phone onto every page. That alone can add several seconds and tank your mobile score.
Make sure it works one-handed on a phone
Your caller is holding the phone in one hand. The tap-to-call button should be huge and visible without scrolling, text should be readable without pinching, and nothing should require zooming. Open your own site on your phone and try to call yourself in one thumb tap.
A sticky header bar with a big Call (520) 555-0142 button that stays on screen
as they scroll, plus a tap-to-book button. No hunting.
Add LocalBusiness schema
Schema is a snippet of code that spells out your name, address, phone, hours, and service area in a format Google reads directly. It helps you show up correctly in local results. Your web person can add it in a few minutes.
Google's LocalBusiness structured data guide gives the exact copy-paste template for a plumbing/drain business, including how to mark up your service area and hours. Hand this page to your developer.
Do this: run your homepage through pagespeed.web.dev on Mobile today and fix the single biggest item it flags.
